High up: „a city that lies on a mountain cannot stay hidden“ (Mt 5,14)
Oecumenic church service at the Zurich Pride Festival
Sunday, 6. June 2010, 2 p.m., catholic Augustiner chruch
Zurich Pride Festival – the one who is proud, shows himself – who shows himself is comprehensible, gets seen, appreciated: good fort he lesbian-gay ego – at the same time a challenge. ‘Do Ask – Do Tell’ – who asks, gets asked; who talks, about that one gets talked.
Being lesbian/gay is not only socially acceptable, its also a part of our society – and therewith a piece of gods empire. Also for lesbian and gay christians, the merry message of Jesus is a gift and a mission. When Jesus called out to the people: “You are the salt of the earth, light of the world, city on the mountain“, its not only an ego-polish, but also a provoking assignment: Care for it, that the world doesn’t get boring, the fire not estinguishes, the city not lies in ruins.
We’re going to do this, we wanna celebrate this, after the parties of the festival nights have ended. Its worth to save up some energy for the Sunday… a warm welcome to the Zurich Pride Festival church service!
